Dr.O’s Beauty: Graphic Design Intern turn Freelance Designer 2021

For the first 3 months of 2021, I worked as an intern for a small beauty company called Dr.O’s Beauty. As the sole graphic designer on the team, I was fully in charge of rebranding the company start to finish. Not only did I redo the logos and choose new company fonts, I also created the graphics for the websites and redid the product labels for their line.

Rebrand Image

The first step of this rebrand was to choose new company fonts, new colors, and create a new recognizable logo, which can be minimized. The CEO desired to shift towards a grainy, vintage image with recognizable retro colors. With this image in mind, I chose this color scheme and these fonts to carry that vibe across.

Redesign Product Labels

After creating a new image, I tackled the task of redesigning their product labels. Prior to the redesign, the labels used many different typefaces and lacked consistency between the products. I redesigned them with the company fonts and kept the sizes and colors cohesive throughout the line.

Graphics for Web and Social Media

Because I was the graphic design intern, I spent most of my time creating graphics to be posted on the company websites and social medias. I created consistent layouts for specific categories of posts, such as vintage magazine like ads and infographics about ingredients.

Instagram

During the internship, I worked very closely with the social media intern and helped plan posts. I would discuss ideas with her and the CEO and then I would go and create them. Also, I redid the Instagram bio and created the icons for the highlights. By the end of my internship, we increased the Instagram follower count by almost 700 new people!

Freelance Designer

After my internship came to a close, I was officially onboarded onto the team as a Freelance Graphic Designer. I continued to work closely with the CEO and aided in smaller tasks before parting ways.
